The Refugee Advice and Casework Service (RACS) organisation was established in 1987 thanks to funding from the UNHCR, to meet the increasing demand for legal assistance to people seeking asylum in Australia. RACS operates as an independent community legal centre, to provide free and specialist legal services for asylum seekers and refugees.

RACS underwent significant growth during 2010-2012, which required them to review their existing process and procedures, particularly their financial systems. They lacked a solid and comprehensive financial function, which could support them moving forward. We engaged with RACS to review their systems, and to recommend appropriate changes. We were then asked by management to work closely with the team to implement our recommendations, and developed such a close relationship with RACS, that we continued on to undertake subsequent work in a wide range of areas. We became the trusted business advisers to RACS - we even get invited to their Christmas party each year.

“Good Foundations has assisted our organisation to prioritise our financial sustainability by giving us simple but effective tools to plan our future.
The team really gets small NFP organisations – the challenges of the uncertain funding streams, the juggling that goes with having limited resources, both financial and human, whilst trying to support the cause you are working for.” - Tanya Jackson-Vaughan,  Executive Director, RACS
